Horses have been present in Cappadocia since ancient times, with evidence of their presence dating back to the Bronze Age. The people of Cappadocia have relied on horses for transportation, farming, and warfare.
Horses were used by the Hittites, the Romans, and the Byzantines in their conquests of the region. The people of Cappadocia also bred horses for their unique qualities, including speed, endurance, and agility. They’ve played many roles in the region’s history. One of the most important roles was in warfare. Horses were used by armies to carry soldiers and supplies, and they were also ridden into battle.

A horse is the projection of peoples’ dreams about themselves – strong, powerful, beautiful – and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence.

– Pam Brown

Horses are still used for transportation, but they’re also used for recreational activities like horseback riding and trail riding.
In addition, the horses of Cappadocia are well-known for their beauty and grace, and they’re often featured in art and photography.

Equine Photo Opportunities in Cappadocia

The fairy chimneys, the valleys, and the rock formations are all stunning, and they create a one-of-a-kind setting for photos. In addition, the light in Cappadocia is incredible, with the sunrises and sunsets casting a beautiful glow over the landscape.

All of this makes Cappadocia a paradise for photographers, especially those who love to photograph horses.

One of the most popular spots is the Rose Valley, as I mentioned before. The rock formations here are particularly photogenic, and the light is stunning. In addition, there are several viewpoints that are perfect for capturing photos of horses against the backdrop of the valley.

There are several horse ranches and stables in the area where you can photograph horses against a backdrop of rolling hills and valleys. There are also opportunities to photograph horses in the wild, on the open plains of Anatolia. And if you’re looking for something a bit more unique, or organized we are here to offer private or group equine photography experiences for all photographers.
